Yak wool is also called the woolly treasure of the Tibetan plateau. This type of wool comes from yak bulls. Yak wool is the soft undercoat (khullu) that the bulls develop in autumn and winter and which they shed naturally in the late spring months. Yak bulls are neither combed nor sheared. The wool must therefore be collected at just the right time, otherwise it is lost. The wool is soft and can really keep you warm. This natural wool has a good ability to hold its shape and is one of the more durable types of wool.
